About Me My name is Melynda Wilson, and I'm the founder of Moon Over the Mountain Designs, a.k.a. M.O.M. Designs. All of my high quality products are handcrafted in my design studio in the scenic North Georgia mountains. I’ve been sewing clothing and quilts for sale for over 15 years, and have designed and produced baby carriers for M.O.M. Designs for 5 years already! I have designed my own line of ring slings, mei tais (asian baby carriers), and soft structured carriers called the M.O.M. Sling, M.O.M. Tai, and M.O.M. Tai Half Buckle Hiker respectively, and the waterproof, breathable, M.O.M. Tai Hiker. The M.O.M. Tai and M.O.M. Tai Half Buckle are fortified with my Internal X™ support system, which is unique to my carriers. The Internal X™ makes them stronger, more supportive, and together with a larger body than other carriers, allows moms and dads to carry children up past 4 years old! My Babywearing History I knew little about babywearing when my daughter Laurel was born. I registered for a well-known carrier figuring I could use it on walks and in town, but it just didn’t work for us. Laurel was not comfortable in it, nor was I, and I couldn’t nurse her in it, either. My mom offered to buy me a sling, and after researching them online, I made one… and another… and another! Now babywearing is a way of life for us! (Thanks, Mom!) I wore Laurel in a sling or M.O.M. Tai every day when she was a baby and continued to wear her for hikes and outings... or just for fun, until she was 4. Babywearing is fun and gives us special time together while I can still get things done. Our family has grown with the addition of our son, Elijah, and our next little bean due in June 2010. I am now a babywearing advocate and the leader of a local babywearing group. I welcome any questions you may have from general information about the benefits of babywearing to how to use different types of carriers.
